-Christina Santiago
Christina Santiago shares her story of being diagnosed with bipolar disorder. She talks about how she lost everything, got diagnosed, then rebuilt her life. Christina also talks about her new book called "You Can Go to Hell and Back," which is a poetic memoir about her journey.
Christina is a local TV news producer currently living and working in Kansas City. She was born and raised in St. Louis, earned her bachelor's in journalism from the Missouri School of Journalism, and has worked in newsrooms across Kansas and Missouri.
She also interned with Reuters in Brussels, Belgium while earning her bachelor's degree. One of her proudest accomplishments was earning the "Doing Well by Doing Good" award from the E.W. Scripps Company for her work on the Gift of Sole campaign, which raised tens of thousands of dollars to give kids in need a good pair of shoes to wear to school.
Christina's Favorite quote: "Tell the story of the mountain you climbed. Your words could become a page in someone else's survival guide." - Morgan Harper Nichols
What Christina has learned from her plot twist: "Without stable mental health, nothing else works well. If you don't prioritize your health and well-being, you won't be able to bring your best self to anyone you love or anything you do. I also learned that I can overcome massive obstacles. My manic episode blew up my entire life - and I've built a new one. Like my book title says - you can go to hell and back."
